A few weeks ago the gentleman of the house went to Brighton for a techy conference, and along I went too, soley for the purpose of shopping and cake eating. Both produced fruitful results (although the latter resulted in groans of uuuuu too much cake)
I was wearing my Laura Ashley 50’s style sundress (with the postcard print) when i remembered the first rule of the seaside – don’t wear a circle skirt – wear a pencil skirt – its windy!
The highlight of the day was my visit to Dollydagger to buy these gorgeous 2 dresses which I’ve been wanting for 2 years ever since i saw this photo of someone wearing the blue one on flickr. The dresses are by Bettie Paige Clothing and are the most amazing fit ever, especially for those of a curvy nature. They make you go out and in all the right places.

Its that time of year again when the boots start coming out of the cupboard and you settle in for 6 months of wearing nothing but boots. I do have a very lovely pair of brown Clarks riding style boots which I’ve had for 4 years and although they’ve been re-souled/heeled several times theres a hole in the toe which keeps coming open.
Ive always rather fancied having a pair of boots that you could wear if you were in a sic-fi action film. You know the type, calf high, flat, buckles (I’m thinking Firefly/Serenity) But then again i also rather like the victorian lace up type but they tend to have heels (I know I have some) and heels really don’t work in a practical environment (well not for me anyway)
Last year i saw some nice ones in Next but they seemed to vanish. Ive found some contenders for this year, both from Dorothy Perkins, lace up grey ankle brogues and knee high flat lace up black. Lets just hope they fit
In the meantime ballet pumps + legwarmers (as long as it doesn’t rain)

What do I love about August? The sun the warmth (when we have it that is) well there is that and theres also the fact that all the autumn fashions start appearing in the shops (or at least the lookbooks online). In my opinion August/September/October is the best time to buy clothes, its the small gap when clothes are sensible between the startling brights of the summer and before the christmas party wear appears (you know what I mean, come November the shop windows are going to be full of satin party dresses in black, emerald green and purple – great for partying but not for waiting for a bus or walking in the park)
So back when the clothes started sneaking into the shops i started making some collages of the things i really loved. Colour themed of course… and a girl can always dream of diamonds
